One of the many things about moving to the UK is embracing the cycling culture. While the weather is not always great, I still prefer it over paddling under the blazing hot sun with constant humid wind. Generally the traffic here is pretty accustomed to cyclist on the roads but that also depends on the area.
Parks here are amazing places for cycling. They are generally upkept and at Richmond Park, you would have a chance to spot wild deers roaming the park. Just take extra care of animals crossing the road. Winter however, can be a bit challenging to get into an outdoor cycling routine. Although, I do see some do. I do not think it is for me, as it tends to gets dark early.
I use my bike for commuting as well. So far the furthest I have been is 12.2miles (20KM) one way to Leatherhead. Roads in the UK can be narrow, it is also always best to get onto cycling lanes where possible. At the end without realising, I managed eased myself of out the idea of owning a car, maybe in the future as the need arises. As of now, two wheels and a pair of legs works for me.
