It has been a year since I parted ways with an acquisition that I took much pleasure in. It was an achievement owning one but with achievements, there is always another. I would like to give God thanks for the opportunity and the friend of mine for facilitating both the acquisition and taking it off my hands.
The BMW 320i Sport was a well suited car replacement for my Proton Inspira 2.0 MT (aka. Lancer GT). It drove and handled well beyond expecations, the dual clutched peformed equal or if not better than having a manual gear box. I loved the response the BMW delivered out of the box with no real extra modifications needed. Though I did swap out the absorbers for a harder sportier feel. Suited the car well up Genting Highlands. Most of all it is also arguably a safer built car. I am sure the next owner would love it.
When it comes to look and feel, I loved the BMW’s aggresive appearence. Behind the wheel, you can feel car the way a car should be felt for a driver and it somewhat commands authority on the road.
It ain’t fancy on the inside I must say, it does not need to be besides having a really good leather steering wheel. Speed meters are traditional, no frills which makes it easy for any driver to take a quick glance to gauge the speed and if everything is operating as it should. Beside, there isn’t much time to admire the dashboard when you are going fast.
While I do miss the turbo charged 2.0cc with about 180+hp under the hood, I am now both pleased and surprised with myself not owning a car for a year. In a way, no car loan, nor the depreciating cost, nor the maintenance or making time to care for a very sensitive car.
As a matter of fact, I do not even have a local license now to drive. I gives me the opportunity to re-evaluate my needs and re-prioritise my life. I do feel healthier on foot and cycling on two wheels which I will talk more about later on. I still am truly surprised with myself that I actually survived without owning a car for 12 months. In some way it is life changing.
